Such authority had been given to the Bishops of the Holy Catholic Church that was instituted by Christ. Such authority is being handed down by ecclesiastical succession within the Holy Catholic Church." This new human spirit has eternal life. It cannot die, nor sin, for it is protected by the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit." "Through the Sacrament of Baptism, the soul, spirit and body of the believer are made righteous in the eyes of God [erasing] the sins committed before Baptism. How wrong they are for Divine justice demands that the soul of the sinner be chastised in just measure, by no means going unpunished for its sins." "As the soul is forgiven of its sins in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and still required to perform a penance, the Lord God forgives the sins of the sinners while still requiring chastisement to sanctify the soul in Christ." "The soul cannot persistently sin and hope that it will be taken care of by simply receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Such an attitude is an abuse of the grace, love and mercy of God.
